Dr. Robert Eckelberry became the President and CEO of the King Foundation after the death of Eleanor King in 2008.
Bob was born and raised on a farm in NW Missouri. He was Valedictorian of his Senior Class at JC Penney High School. Following graduation, Bob received a National Methodist Scholarship to attend American University in Washington DC, graduating in 3 years. During his tenure in Washington he served as a Staff Assistant to Senator Tom Hennings of Missouri. After receiving his BA Degree from American University, Bob did additional graduate work at the University of Stockholm and the University of Nebraska (Ph.D).
In 1964 Bob was hired by the University of Denver to teach Political Science and European Governments. He was an Associate Professor at DU for 16 years, and while teaching at DU he received a Juris Doctorate (1969). Bob has practiced law in Arapahoe County for 43 years. He was elected to the Colorado Legislature in 1972 and served 3 terms representing Arapahoe County.
Bob’s hobbies include skiing, hiking, and foreign travel. (Bob has visited over 180 countries).
Carol Walters serves as the Executive Secretary of the Foundation. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative matters of the Foundation, and also assists with compliance matters.
Ms. Walters attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
For 20 years Carol worked as a Legal Secretary at an Arapahoe County Law Firm. |
